My Story: My name is Shannon Dent. I grew up in rural upstate New York, homeschooled on a cute little hobby farm until the age of 13. I've always been curious and excited to learn.
Soon after turning 13, I got my first period and my curiosity of women's health was sparked. Because my menstruation was irregular, I was always curious about my womanly body. Throughout the years, I learned about stabilizing my blood sugar, excercising without stressing my body out, eating for fertility, sleeping well and even cycling my menstruation with the New Moon.
I began to feel called to midwifery when I moved to Charlotte in August 2018. With every birth I see, I am so humbled by the wonder of this life. I remember standing by my mother's side when she birthed my younger four siblings. She moved and swayed and moaned. I have learned that while birth is many things, it is primal and something we feel. And while my wisdom is ever growing and changing, I do know this. That when you are surrounded by people who love and care for you, the chemistry of a room changes. Happy babies are born and mamas feel the strongest and most loved they ever have.
My Life: I am 20 years old now, a curious and talkative Gemini. I moved to Charlotte, August 2018. I spent my first year living with Sarah Cowherd from Sage Mama Doula. She continues to teach me so much about birth and I admire her womanly wisdom and intuition greatly. I attend many doula and homebirth midwifery workshops and read alot. I am in Midwifery school to get my CPM License through apprenticing a midwife. I take care of a sweet autistic boy on weekdays. I also work at an ice cream shop on weekends. Otherwise, I am found going on walks in nature, writing songs on my ukelele and guitar, playing with friends and laughing with my lover. Wishing you so much love, Shannon Daisies
That my presence may add to your radiance is my only wish.
